In the letter, “Political and religious” (BDN, Sept. 3), Janice Bodwell contends that stem cell research is both a political issue as well as a religious issue. The fact of the matter is that it is neither. It is a scientific research issue.

Scientists in other countries will continue their research on this topic whether U.S. scientists are allowed to do so or not. Then one fine morning we will be forced to outsource scientists and doctors from other shores to enjoy the fruits of their research.
