Narraguagus High School, Harrington
HARRINGTON – Narraguagus High School Principal Peter Doak has announced honor parts for the Class of 2001. Graduation exercises will be at 2 p.m. Friday, June 8, at the Charles F. Lawrence gymnasium.
Valedictorian is Nicole Barbee, daughter of Kevin and Pamela Barbee of Cherryfield. Salutatorian is Sarah Nichols, daughter of Larry and Teresa Nichols of Harrington.
Barbee is vice president of the National Honor Society, was president of her class all four years, a member of the outdoor club, French club, Spirit Leaders and the Bridge Coalition Team. She took part in basketball, track and field, softball and volleyball. She received the MSSPA Principal’s Award and the Herff Jones Principal’s Leadership Award and was a Hugh O’Brien youth representative. She plans to attend Harvard University.
Nichols is president of the band, secretary of the National Honor Society, and founder of the Spirit Leaders. She is a member of Destination Imagination, drama club, pep band, jazz band, math team and Washington County Children’s Chorus. She received the Maine Scholars Achievement Award and a class writing award. She plans to attend the University of Maine to study music education.
Other students who attained honor parts are Chelsey Babiarz, daughter of Dennis and Alicia Babiarz of Cherryfield; Samantha Berst, daughter of Chester and Pam Nichols of Harrington and Jim Berst of North Carolina; Jason DiGioia, son of Tony and Judy DiGioia of Harrington and Barbara Torrey of Columbia; Jason Greene, son of Peter and Lorna Greene of Addison; Elisabeth Hammond, daughter of Robert and Helene Hammond of Harrington; Brittany Howe, daughter of Mark and Leslie Howe of Columbia Falls; Austin Leackfeldt, son of Stephen and Sandra Leackfeldt of Harrington; Danielle Meneses, daughter of Arturo Meneses of Columbia Falls and Cindy Thomas of Sidney; Michelle Moore, daughter of William and Laurel Moore of Addison; and Meagan Skinner, daughter of Harold and Janice Skinner of Columbia.
