Swallow double lifts Warriors to victory

DYER BROOK – Jeff Swallow’s RBI double in the third inning was the key hit in Southern Arooostook’s 4-2 high school baseball win over Fort Fairfield Thursday.

Matt McCluskey and Jared Grant had RBI singles for the Warriors.

Phil Rochford had a double and drove in a run and Tyler Bernaiche singled for the Tigers.

At Calais, Chris LaPointe singled twice and knocked in a run to power the Blue Devils.

Jordan Kneeland paced the Knights of Harrington with a two-run single. Larry Fickett chipped in with an RBI single.

Quint Carter led Washburn with two singles.

Daren Kelly also doubled twice and scattered eight hits en route to the pitching win. D.R. Alley doubled and singled for Jonesport-Beals.

Cliff Urquhart, Wesley Ellington and Ryan Moore each hit a double for Shead of Eastport.

Luke Bernard doubled and singled twice for the Shiretowners and Eric O’Conner chipped in with a three-run single.

At East Millinocket Wednesday, Blair Emery belted a home run to go with a double, knocking in three runs as the Pandas cruised to the five-inning win.

Shawn Henderson hit three singles and drove in a run while Ian Buzanoski had two singles and the other RBI for the Warriors.

Ashley Woodward had three singles for Narraguagus of Harrington.

At Dexter, Kristy Veazie knocked a two-run double to power the Tigers past the Patriots of Bangor.

Lisa Phinney and Renee Mick each knocked in a run on a single for the Pats.

At Sherman Station, Jessie Kuester’s two-run triple broke a 9-9 tie in a seven-run seventh-inning rally that gave Lee its 12th win in 13 games.

Kuester had three singles to go with her triple and she drove in four runs. Diedra Ham had three singles and two RBIs and Danielle Jipson had a pair of base hits as did winning pitcher Crystal Moore. Moore had an RBI.

Michaelene Duffy, Lacey Willett and Angie Qualey had three singles each and K.C. Duffy-Stanley had two. Duffy, Qualey and Duffy-Stanley had an RBI apiece.

Samantha Davis led Shead of Eastport with a solo homer and a single.

At Bucksport, the Rams’ Jen Jimmo outdueled Bucksport’s Kelly White.

The winning run was scored in the seventh by Megan Huckins, who reached on an error, went to second on an error, and came -home on Samantha Warner’s two-out single to right field. Jimmo only yielded two hits in the circle, walking one.

Jessica Taylor had the only two hits for the Golden Bucks, both singles.

At Dover-Foxcroft, Lindsey Welch had two doubles, two singles and three RBIs to help lead the Nokomis Warriors of Newport to the win.

Danielle Clark had four singles and three RBIs while Megan Randlett added two doubles and five RBIs.

Mandi Murray went 4-for-4 with a triple, three singles and two RBIs for the Ponies.

At Milo, Lynn Farrington pitched a four-hitter and struck out 10 batters to lead Schenck of East Millinocket to a win over Penquis.

Schenck’s Rebecca Stratton hit a two-run home run and a single for three RBIs. Rihana Porter singled twice and Jessica Day hit a triple.

Lil Gerrish had two singles and an RBI for the Patriots while Mindy Dyer added two singles.

At Corinth, Jen Allen knocked in four runs on four singles to lead the Red Devils to the five-inning triumph.

Amber Smith led the Hawks with an RBI single.
