KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Kansas City outfielder Matt Stairs signed a $1.2 million, one-year contract extension with the Royals on Wednesday.

Stairs, who is hitting .266 with 15 home runs and 60 RBIs this season, can earn an additional $50,000 in performance bonuses next year.
