LEVANT – Rumor has it that a huge black bear has taken shape in Levant. The truth is, it’s a green black bear and he is full of corn – a corn maze, that is.
Once again, the Treworgy family of Treworgy Orchards on 3876 Union St. has come up with another unusual theme for the 2004 Corn Maze. The maze is a field of corn shaped to outline a picture of something. It has paths to lead visitors into, through and out of the maze.
The orchard also offers for sale apples, which visitors may pick themselves, pumpkins, gourds and squash. Weekend hay rides and a petting zoo featuring Prince the llama also will be available.
This is the fourth year that the Treworgy family has created a corn maze. This year’s 3-acre maze is shaped like a Maine black bear. Tickets for the maze are available at the orchard’s ice cream shop. After touring the maze and finding five hidden stations, visitors may claim a free soft-serve ice cream cone as a reward.
Tickets for the maze are $4, $3 for children and $12 for a family of two adults and two children. The maze is open 1 p.m. to dusk every day except Mondays. To learn more about the maze, call 884-8354.
