In a caption accompanying a photograph of National Folk Festival activity published Aug. 26, the NEWS should have identified the individual who was asked by Bangor police officers “to stop playing his banjo and panhandling along Washington Street,” as Mark Finks of Falmouth. Finks was not arrested or charged in the incident, and maintains he was within his rights to be there. He said he was not panhandling, and that his performance was part of a street ministry that he has practiced for the past 20 years.

A new business announcement in Thursday’s editions contained inaccurate names for two employees at Any Length hair salon in Bangor. The stylists are Amy Richard and Anna Gellerson.

A brief item about a single-car crash in Sedgwick, published in the Aug. 30 State section contained incorrect information about the driver. James LaPlace was summoned on a charge of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of intoxicants, not arrested as stated in the brief. The incorrect information was provided by the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department.

The site for this weekend’s Maine Basketball Report exhibition/evaluation camps was listed incorrectly in the high school report in Wednesday’s Sports section. The University of New England in Biddeford will be host to Saturday’s camp for high school freshmen, sophomores and juniors and Sunday’s camp for high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors.
