An article in the June 27 Bangor Daily News on Brewer’s decision to cut four sewer plant jobs contained some errors. Deputy Mayor Michael Celli said, “As a municipal agency, we are not an employment service.” He did not use the phrase “unemployment service,” which was printed in the article. Another city councilor was misnamed. It was Councilor Joe Ferris who said, “Another tentacle of Eastern Fine is affecting us directly.” Third, the context of a paragraph on a planned sewer rate increase created the impression that the increase is larger than it is. The 5.5 percent increase planned for Brewer’s sewer-user fee represents a 30-cent increase from the current rate, raising it from $5.45 per 100 cubic feet to $5.75 per 100 cubic feet.
