A late-breaking story in Saturday’s paper concerning the Legislature’s enacted tax relief plan failed to clarify the total amount of phased-in benefit that homeowners and renters will receive under the circuit breaker program over the next three years. The law provides $10 million next year, a little more than $20 million in the following year and about $31 million in the third year. The restoration of full funding for the Homestead Exemption Program will require an additional $5 million annually over the next three years.
