A story on Page B1 last Tuesday about scrutiny of the funding for Gov. John Baldacci’s Dirigo Health program requires clarification. The story reported that Dirigo architect Trish Riley said Dirigo was developed in consultation with staff from the office of the Maine attorney general and the office of Sen. Susan Collins. Riley this week said those communications addressed the appropriate use of one-time federal Medicaid relief funds, which were not used to fund Dirigo enrollment subsidies, but applied to existing Medicaid programs as required by law. Funding for the Dirigo plan, Riley said, was not discussed with either office.

In a story about rural airport funding that appeared on Page A7 on Wednesday, The Associated Press reported erroneously that under a proposal in President Bush’s budget plan airports within 100 to 250 miles of a hub would have to pay 25 percent of the cost of commuter flights, while those 250 miles and beyond would pay 10 percent. The correct distance in both cases is 210 miles, not 250.
