Sinford, 34, of East Machias had been indicted on charges of rape, unlawful sexual contact and assault on a county jail inmate. In fact, Sinford was indicted by a Washington County grand jury on charges of gross sexual assault, and two counts each of assault and unlawful sexual contact.
