A Feb. 6, 2004, story in the State section, “Ex-jail guard indicted in inmate sex assault,” inaccurately stated that William E. Sinford, 34, of East Machias had been indicted on charges of rape, unlawful sexual contact and assault on a county jail inmate. In fact, Sinford was indicted by a Washington County grand jury on charges of gross sexual assault, and two counts each of assault and unlawful sexual contact.

A story about the Searsport annual town meeting in some editions of the State section Monday misidentified the position held by Granville Gross. He serves on the Board of Selectmen.

A story published on March 4 in the Coastal edition incorrectly stated that Lamoine town meeting voters overwhelmingly rejected changes to the town’s land use ordinance. The vote was 67-63.
