A story on Thursday’s State front contained incorrect information about the Legislature’s Joint Select Committee on Regionalization and Community Cooperation. The ad hoc committee has all the powers and duties of a standing committee, including specific authorization to write legislation on its own. Created by a majority of both the House and Senate, the committee remains intact until a new Legislature organizes in December, and could function during a special session. The group will hear a committee bill on municipal and county regional issues on Tuesday and has had other legislation referred to it.
