A Page One story published Wednesday about Norman Ledwin and the search for a new chief executive officer for Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor needs clarification. Ledwin remains CEO of the hospital and will continue in that capacity until someone is named to replace him. Deborah Carey Johnson has not been named acting or interim CEO, but as the chief operating officer, she has been overseeing operations at the hospital for nearly six years. Also, Ledwin, as CEO of Eastern Maine Healthcare System, and George Eaton, chairman of the EMMC board, will make the final decision on a new hospital CEO in consultation with EMMC’s board.

A town meeting listing published in the March 22 State edition incorrectly listed a St. Agatha selectman as seeking re-election. Dan LaBrie is not seeking an eighth term on the St. Agatha Board of Selectmen.

A story on Page B3 in Wednesday’s editions about the committee formed to study mercury levels in the Penobscot River and Penobscot Bay south of the HoltraChem Plant in Orrington contained incorrect information. Dr. Nicholas Fisher was appointed to the committee by U.S. District Judge Eugene Carter. The original lawsuit was filed in April 2000. Carter first ordered a mercury contamination study in July 2002.
