A story in the State section last Friday about a new Do Gooder Network should have listed the organization’s Web site address as www.dogooder.us.

An article published in the April 10-11 State section regarding the accidental release of de-icing fluid at Bangor International Airport erroneously stated that jet fuel had been detected in water samples taken from the stream last spring. While the presence of petroleum was detected, the level of testing conducted was not sophisticated enough to determine the specific petroleum product.

A story on the front page Tuesday about the need to overhaul the U.S. Postal System contained some inaccuracies. U.S. Sen. Susan Collins of Maine is chairman of the Senate Governmental Affairs Committee, which conducted a series of eight hearings on Postal Service reform. The U.S Postal Service is the linchpin of a $900 billion industry, which includes indirectly affiliated businesses such as direct mailing, printing, catalog production and paper manufacturing. The Postal Service is paying down a $5 billion debt and owes another $87 billion in other unfunded liabilities. An official for L.L. Bean who was quoted in the story was John Oliver, vice president for public affairs.
