Although a local resident said it took 20 minutes for medical personnel to arrive at the scene, the dispatcher’s log indicated a police officer arrived in 8 minutes and the rescue personnel arrived in 11 minutes. The volunteer department’s personnel were on another call across town when notification of the accident came in, according to Holden Fire Chief Jim Ellis.

In a July 19 story about Gulf War syndrome, The Associated Press erroneously attributed comments about a study into a possible cause for Gulf War syndrome to Joseph F. Collins, a researcher at VA Maryland Healthcare System and one of the study’s authors. It was Dr. John Feussner, the study’s senior author, who said that bacterial infection was “not the smoking gun” and is “off the table at this point.”
