Correcting the record

A story published on Page One on Thursday about water levels at Ragged and Seboomook lakes inaccurately described their locations. Both lakes are on the West Branch of the Penobscot River.

Thursday’s Page One story about the merger between Eastern Maine Healthcare and Eastern Maine Healthcare Systems mistakenly identified Jack Palmer as the CEO of Sebasticook Valley Hospital in Pittsfield. Palmer is a member of the SVH and EMHS boards. The CEO of Sebasticook Valley Hospital is Jack May.

A story that ran on Page B1 Thursday about state Sen. John Martin requires clarification. Martin’s two-year hiatus from the Legislature because of term limits was 1996-98. He was elected again in 1998 to the House and was elected in 2000 to the Senate.

A story in Wednesday’s paper cited an incorrect opening date for the new bridge across the Penobscot River between Prospect and Verona Island. The Maine Department of Transportation plans to have the new bridge completed by November 2006.

In Wednesday’s Page One article about Mainers tipping for wreaths, the price that David Fraser’s company in Harrington pays for a dozen wreaths was listed incorrectly. The correct price is $36 per dozen.

An article published in Wednesday’s State section should have said the Bangor restaurant Asian Palace was sold and subsequently closed for reasons unconnected to an alleged embezzlement scheme.
