An article that ran in the Jan. 8 Aroostook County edition needs clarification. The article, “Oakfield man indicted on threatening charge,” should have stated that Mark T. Smith allegedly fired one round from a handgun inside his home before police arrived.

An article in Tuesday’s final edition incorrectly stated that the fifth grade in Holden recently was moved from the elementary school to the Holbrook School. The fifth grade was moved in the 1970s from the elementary school to the middle school and in 2000 to a new and separate wing at the Holbrook School. A statement about Superintendent Patricia Duran’s support for moving Hermon’s fifth grade also needs clarification. Duran said it would be ideal to leave the class at the elementary school, but overcrowding necessitates the move to the middle school.

A State section story in some editions Tuesday gave the wrong cost of insurance for a proposed new clerk position for the town of Mount Desert. The estimate is $12,000 a year.
