Correcting the record

A story published Tuesday in some editions of the State section about an unconscious, intoxicated student at Maine Central Institute in Pittsfield incorrectly stated that MCI staff waited 15 minutes before calling for help. A school nurse attended to the student within minutes of the incident, but it took 15 minutes for an ambulance to reach the school. The information was incorrectly provided by a Pittsfield police officer.

The wrong team was listed as the winner in a sports headline in Tuesday’s paper. Brewer High School defeated Hampden Academy in a baseball game.

Clarification

Stories about federal charges against Dr. Osama El-Silimy and his Aroostook E.N.T. Clinic published in the State section on Saturday [sic] and Monday require clarification. El-Silimy’s plea agreement with federal prosecutors includes a provision that he waives his right to appeal if the fines imposed at sentencing exceed those outlined in the federal sentencing guidelines: $30,000 for the doctor and $112,000 for the clinic.
