Correcting the record

A story in some editions of the Dec. 15 Bangor Daily News had incorrect information. The “Passamaquoddy History and Culture: A Traveling Teaching Kit” that won a third-place award in a national contest is in fact the second teaching kit that the National Park Service has created.

A Page 1 story Wednesday about new inspection laws incorrectly stated that the vehicle manufacturer must make the lift kits and that they must be installed professionally. After-market manufacturers make the kits, which can be installed by anyone as long as the person follows the manufacturer’s recommendation and all of the parts are used properly. The story also failed to mention that body lifts cannot be done on vehicles with anti-lock brakes.

The incorrect day was included in the headline of Joni Averill’s Friday column about the free public Bangor Band Christmas Concert, which is scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 17, at the Bangor Auditorium.
