A headline on a business story by The Associated Press on Page B1 of Saturday’s paper contained an incorrect figure. Retail sales in the United States fell 0.2 percent in April.

The solution to the Chess column’s Beginner’s Corner query was inadvertently omitted from Page J2 in the weekend paper. The answer is: black rook to g3 check, forcing the white king to take the rook and setting up the black queen’s next move to f4 for mate.
