A story on discussions of the Maine Board of Pesticides Control that appeared in the State Section on Sept. 8 indicated that two new applications for the sale of Bt genetically-engineered corn seeds had been received by the board and that one was for a corn to be used for human consumption. According to Paul Schlein, spokesman for the MBPC, the application for corn for human consumption has not been formally filed. The company making the inquiries, Syngenta Crop Protection Corp., has filed a formal request to sell Bt corn for cow consumption.
The name of the drug enforcement agency named in a Sept. 20 article in the State Section about seized and forfeited assets in Brewer was incorrect. The correct organization is the federal Drug Enforcement Agency based in Bangor.
A story in the LifeStyle section in the Sept. 22-23 paper incorrectly stated the Milwaukee Braves lost the 1957 World Series to the New York Yankees. The Braves won the Series that year.
In a Sept. 27 story about O.J. Simpson’s girlfriend, Christie Prody, The Associated Press erroneously reported her high school friend, Stefanie Prokopiuk, saying they have remained friends. Prokopiuk declined to talk about her current relationship with Prody.
