A photo caption on Page B3 in some editions of Wednesday’s paper incorrectly identified the job title of one of the subjects. Pictured is Mount Desert Police Chief James Willis.

The Weekly gave an incomplete location for the Eddington Historical Society meeting in Thursday’s calendar and community news. The society will meet 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16, in the Adams Real Estate Room, 186 State St., Bangor. All are welcome.

Clarification: A story on Page One of Wednesday’s paper was unclear about when Gov. John Baldacci’s Gubernatorial Trade Mission to South Korea and Japan occurred. The mission took place this past October.

In a Dec. 11 story about Larry Holmes’ election to the International Boxing Hall of Fame, The Associated Press reported erroneously that Holmes was the longest reigning world heavyweight champion, holding the title for nearly seven years from 1978 to 1985. Joe Louis held the title from 1937 to 1949 (11 years, 10 months), but his reign was interrupted by service in the Army from 1942 to 1945, and Louis did not defend his title between March 1942 and June 1946.
