A story on Page B1 of Friday’s [sic] paper misstated the number of kilowatts of electricity a program is designed to assess for wind turbine projects. The story should have said that the Public Utilities Commission’s Efficiency Maine Program and University of Maine representatives announced that “they will begin accepting applications from schools, towns, nonprofits and businesses that want to borrow the anemometers to assess the potential for small-scale wind projects designed to generate greater than 500 kilowatts of electricity.”
An article on Page A1 of Wednesday’s paper stated that William Dana Reed had operated Skeeter’s Redemption Center in Old Town in 2004. To clarify, Reed worked there for a brief period of time, but no longer is an employee.
A Page A1 story on April 26 about a Bangor man stricken with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, also known as ALS or Lou Gehrig’s disease, requires clarification. Jim Kingsbury could not apply for disability benefits while he was still employed, even though his physical strength was deteriorating. Now that he has left his job, he has filed an application and expects a decision within three months. Assuming the application is approved, payments will be retroactive to the date of his application.
