A story about a meeting of the Brewer City Council on Page B3 of the July 16 paper contained an error. Employees who participate in the newly created home energy efficiency loan program offered by the city will pay no interest.

In a story on Tuesday’s Business page about Amtrak’s Downeaster, The Associated Press cited a proposal to expand Amtrak service northward to Brunswick using the former St. Lawrence and Atlantic line. The story should have noted there are two proposals for expanding Amtrak service. The short-term plan is to use the existing Pan Am Railways line. The Maine Department of Transportation also is studying a long-term proposal that would follow the former St. Lawrence and Atlantic line from Portland to Yarmouth, where it would connect with the Pan Am Railways line to Brunswick.

A story on Page B3 in Tuesday’s paper about an accident on Interstate 95 in Bangor incorrectly reported that the Maine Department of Environmental Protection found there was no diesel fuel leakage from the truck. According to Thomas Smith of the Maine DEP, officials found an undetermined quantity of spilled diesel fuel and took actions to clean up the spill.
