Correcting the record

In a Business page story Thursday on the Maine Wild Blueberry Commission meeting in Ellsworth, Jonesboro grower Sanford Kelley was noted as having voted against spending money on a new marketing program. He actually voted in favor of that proposal.

A story published in Thursday’s Final edition about SAD 31 incorrectly reported a vote tally and incorrectly stated the nature of a committee formed by the board of directors. Board member Michael Garfield voted against forming a committee to oversee the construction process of a new high school, while another committee was formed to promote community involvement in the board, not merely the construction process.

A headline on a Page One story in Thursday’s editions incorrectly created the impression the United States had produced a report on Canadian security. The report was produced by the Canadian Senate.

A story on Page One of Wednesday’s Bangor Daily News mischaracterized the role of the Appalachian Mountain Club in a resource management plan proposed by Plum Creek Timber Co. While AMC has been working with Plum Creek as it developed the plan, AMC has not yet taken an official position for or against the plan.
