Correcting the record

In a story about the Vermont Yankee nuclear power plant that appeared on Page B6 in Monday’s paper, The Associated Press reported erroneously that the Nuclear Regulatory Commission would review whether the plant is in compliance with its design specifications. The commission has agreed only to review a petition by two engineers seeking such a study.

A headline and parts of a weekend story on a family’s disagreements with the way SAD 37 in Cherryfield is dealing with their 12-year-old son’s educational requirements needs clarification. Steve and Charlee Ormanovich said Monday their son is not “troubled” as the story reported, but has ADHD, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, something SAD 37 officials feel KidsPeace in Ellsworth is better equipped to handle. The parents say it is the opinion of their child’s psychiatrist that KidsPeace is not the most appropriate learning environment for the child.
