Correcting the record

A story in some editions June 29 correctly reported the summoning of two people in connection with an Ellsworth party that police said involved underage drinking. But the procedure involving Ellsworth High School and notification of police needs to be clarified. School administrators did not call the Ellsworth police. The school officials became involved three days after the incident as a result of the school’s policy regarding off-campus drinking or violation of athletic codes.

A parade float noted in Thursday’s editions mistakenly was identified as being affiliated solely with congressional candidate John Nutting. Nutting and his supporters shared space on the float with Bangor Reps. Jackie Norton of District 120 and Pat Blanchette of District 119. The tractor was driven by Norton’s husband, Roger Richard.

The wrong date was supplied for a supper at the Holden Congregational Church in Thursday’s Calendar. The event will be held July 14.

Because of incorrect information from police, a story in some editions Thursday gave the wrong nationalities of a couple who were involved in a recent car accident in Ellsworth. Ingrid and Roland Mann are U.S. citizens and are staying at a summer home in Hancock.

Two stories published this week concerning forest fires reported that one fire occurred in Bancroft. The fire has been determined to have been in the Reed area.

A story June 30 on Justice Paul Pierson incorrectly stated William S. Cohen’s Cabinet position. He was secretary of defense.
