Clarification

A story that appeared in the State section of some editions of the Jan. 10 paper regarding an elm tree in Castine requires clarification. The town’s arborist recommended that the tree, which had been damaged in a storm last year, be taken down, a recommendation that was supported by several other tree experts. Another arborist, however, suggested the tree could be saved and voters at a special town meeting voted to accept that option.
