Correcting the record

In a story about the Augusta Mental Health Institute, The Associated Press on Jan. 24 gave the wrong first name of the judge who is to rule on a consent decree involving current and former patients. The judge is Superior Court Chief Justice Nancy Mills, not Janet Mills.

In a story published Jan. 26 about President Bush’s visit to Maine, The Associated Press inaccurately reported that “Maine has the longest shared border with Canada of all the U.S. states.” According to the International Boundary Commission, Maine shares a 611-mile border with Canada, ranking it third behind Michigan at 721 miles, and Alaska at 1,538 miles.

A story on Monday’s Business page about the selection of Donald Flannery of Fort Fairfield as the new executive director of the Maine Potato Board incorrectly attributed several comments to Michael Corey, the former executive director. All remarks in the story were made by Flannery.

A photo caption in Monday’s paper showed an aerial view of salmon pens located off Dyer Island at the mouth of Narraguagus Bay. The island pictured is Flint Island and the pens are located in Flint Island Narrows between Flint and Dyer islands.
