A story about forest certification in Wednesday’s paper incorrectly characterized the status of Irving Woodlands Forest Stewardship Council certification. Although the FSC approval has been appealed, Irving has retained its certification in Maine. The company did return its FSC certificate for its Black Brook woodlands in New Brunswick because of a dispute over FSC standards in the Maritime Provinces.

A Maine Day story in Wednesday’s issue about a granite sculpture that will be installed at a New Jersey hospital gave the incorrect name of an artist. The correct name is Robert Phipps of Bar Harbor.

A story in Wednesday’s Maine Day about a house fire in Orient omitted that the Haynesville Fire Department also provided mutual aid.

A list of federal court arraignments in March 20 editions of the NEWS incorrectly stated that Kenneth G. Wood III was jailed. In fact he was summoned to appear in court, then released on personal recognizance bail after pleading not guilty to two counts of possession of a firearm by a person previously convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence.

The rights fee being paid to the NCAA by WVII-TV (Channel 7) and Maine Public Broadcasting Corp. was reported incorrectly in Wednesday’s editions. They will split a fee of at least $2,500 per game, per market, for the right to televise the University of Maine’s NCAA Regional games.
