Gov. John Baldacci’s viewpoint on a bill affecting Maine loggers was mischaracterized because of a dropped word in a quotation in Friday’s front page story about Irving loggers’ work stoppage. The quote from Conservation Commissioner Patrick McGowan should have read: “The governor does not like the way the bill they want is drafted. It has state ramifications that would affect every landowner in Maine.” The word “not” was absent in Friday’s story.
